May Tabalon Cornelissen FineArt

Filipina based in Belgium artist May Tabalon-Cornelissen (b. 1987) started drawing, sketching and painting in her younger years. She considers art as her great passion. She grow up in Butuan City Philippines . Back then she was a representative for editorial cartooning and poster making contest in her school and in city, regional , and national  sponsored competition  which makes her develop her critical mind , combine artistic skill, hyperbole and satire in order to question authority and draw attention to corruptionpolitical violence and other social ills.

She continued developing her passion in arts when she joined Circulo de Arte, an art organization in Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Philippines where art workshops were being held. She joined school art exhibits and at the same time already accepting commissioned painting works in 2008 mostly in impressionistic style and portraits.  Oil painting is one of the medium that she really like .

Here in Belgium, she was able to go to Academie Mechelen for a year to explore the European style of  modern-abstract art.  Now aside from oil painting,  she is also exploring in other medium like the versatile nature of modern acrylic paint which makes her creative process easier.

Aside from portrait and figurative  paintings she also like painting landscape, places, stil life and nature. She is usually inclined to use bright and lively colors in her artworks.  She loves impressionistic-realistic style and at the same time exploring other artistic styles like abstract-expressionism.

She believes that art after all  is an evolution of your own self-expression and a self-discovery in a process of creating beautiful masterpieces.

Story of An Artist

Hi Everyone! thank you so much for visiting my website.

When I was young, there is one person that truly encouraged me to pursue doing what I love, and that is my Late Aunt Lucy. She said if she can only paint she would never stop doing it and painting all what she likes.

For me engaging in an artistic process is very important in discovering and expressing my self.

Through my art i can transmit beauty to others and to reach out to a person who shares the same thoughts, feelings, and experiences as mine.

As a woman artist, it is s great privilege to  create meaningful and innovative works at my own freedom and creativity.

I am hoping to expand knowledge and creative expertise across all endeavours.

As an artist, I am committed to providing clients with the best possible experience through artistic expression.

Because we live in a fortunate time of history when women like me can now freely participate and become creators of art, I hope that you could further appreciate and celebrate the continuous contributions by being more supportive and constantly on the lookout for that my next artworks creations.
